Day of the Brain Dead

You know, I not only wanted to take today off for the most part, but I specifically had hoped not to have to publish anything on the ridiculously stupid 9/12 Teabagger protest going on in DC -- the Astroturf shriek-fest organized by the likes of Glenn Beck and attended not only by below-average citizens but by several Republican lawmakers.

I wanted to stay away from it, because I knew it would make my brain hurt, but I just can't. It's simultaneously the worst and best kind of train wreck.

Here now, just a few images from the Million Moron March.

Look closely at the collar of the above idiot's shirt. Yup, it says, "Glenn Beck Is My Hero." Tells you everything you need to know, doesn't it?

Oliver Willis did what I'd probably do if I were anywhere near this thing: He went right down into the middle of it and laughed out loud at everybody involved. He's been Twittering from the scene for most of the afternoon. A few of his best lines:

"Speaker says future of con pop culture is Stephen Baldwin."

"Woman has flier warning that swine flu vaccine is genocide plot."

"Based on the crowd, future of GOP is a 50+ white couple. Oh wait that's the present of the GOP"

"Gay clubs in DC are gonna be off the hook tonight with closet case conservatives. I'm looking at you WeHo teabaggers."

"Woman next to me lecturing man that he should be praying for rapture."
