The Top 28 of 2008

It's been a hell of a year around here: In 2008 I was fired by CNN and began an entirely new career, watched traffic on this site go through the roof, released my memoir, became a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and, most memorably, welcomed a brand new addition to the life I share with my wife Jayne -- our daughter, Inara. I've chronicled all of these things and more here -- including cranking out piece after piece on the most fascinating, unpredictable and ultimately seismic election season of my lifetime -- which makes it tough to narrow down the 1,400 or so posts of the last 12 months into a small group that I think best represents what Deus Ex Malcontent has been about this past year. In the end, I chose the columns that generated the most reaction -- positive, negative or otherwise -- and asked a couple of readers whose opinions I value to help me come up with a list of 28 of the "best" posts of 2008 and put them in order (leaving out Dead Star Twilight excerpts and Inara's birth announcement and photos, for obvious reasons). I'm happy with the end result. Hopefully, you will be too. Thanks for allowing me to be so proud of the work I've put into this site; the people who've read and supported DXM over the past year are valued in ways I can't fully put into words.
