Quote of the Day

"Everyone talks about how Johnny has fallen from grace. In reality, he's fallen to grace. He is integrated. He is living a life of truth. "

-- Rielle Hunter, née Lisa Druck, talking about her relationship with John Edwards in an exclusive interview in the latest issue of GQ

You know how the right likes to characterize coastal types as "moonbats?" Yeah, well, it's actually applicable here.

For me, the best part about the Rielle Hunter saga has always been the fact that she was the basis for the Alison Poole character -- a coke-addled, gold-digging party girl who'd jump into bed with just about anybody -- in Jay McInerney's Story of My Life. McInerney wrote an entire book about this woman after having dated her for all of a month; that speaks volumes.

Even more entertaining is that "Alison Poole" returned in not one but two of Bret Easton Ellis's subsequent books: Glamorama and, more notably, American Psycho, in which she was a victim of serial killer Patrick Bateman. Why do I get the feeling that Elizabeth Edwards wishes the latter had been non-fiction?
