I'm not sure these guys even qualify as a one-hit-wonder here in the states; their biggest claim to fame is that they managed to get Andy Warhol to fall in love with them and consequently direct their first video.
This is sort of unfortunate because, surprisingly, Curiosity Killed the Cat's 1987 debut album, Keep Your Distance, holds up pretty damn well over time. It was cool, jazzy, funky, with a lot of great hooks and the kind of groove you couldn't help but find yourself nodding along to. And it still is to this day.
This isn't the Andy Warhol video; it's actually a much better one. (Because say what you want about Warhol's art -- just about everything he put to film was patently ridiculous.)
Here's Down to Earth.
