As much as I hate to say this, it's that time again.
By now, regular visitors to this site have figured out that every few months I make a push for book sales and donations (if this were NPR or PBS I'd call it a pledge drive, and it'd be just as annoying as when one of them does it). The fact is -- well, you know the facts: Deus Ex Malcontent is a labor of love, one that I devote quite a bit of time to for no paycheck. Hell, this site basically cost me a very high-paying job and yet I care so much for it, and for its readers, that I've never once questioned whether it was worth the sacrifice. I enjoy the work that I do here and it's, quite frankly, allowed me to meet people and take on professional projects that I otherwise wouldn't have been exposed to. That said, it's still something I often devote quite a bit of effort to while relying solely on you, the reader, to decide the value of my work.
If you would like to show a little financial love for this site and its humble writer/editor/wise-ass-in-charge, there are two ways you can do it.
First of all, if you haven't picked up a copy of my memoir, Dead Star Twilight, please do so. You can purchase it as an e-book that will immediately be downloaded to your computer by clicking here. To those who've already read the book and have responded to it so favorably, thank you; I'm honored that it moved you, made you laugh, kept you turning the pages, etc. That's the most important thing in the world to a writer.
The other way you can support Deus Ex Malcontent is to donate money via the Paypal electronic tip jar in the right-hand sidebar of this screen (click the link that says "Donate"). Obviously, this site is free and will remain that way. I don't clutter it up with a lot of ads for products you probably wouldn't care about anyway; I don't demand a subscription or anything silly like that. Once again, I leave it to you to decide for yourself what my efforts are worth.
So, if you're a fan of the site and feel like you can afford to right now, please give a little toward these festivities. I rely on your kindness to keep DXM running at its current pace. You of course don't have to donate; I'll likely keep doing this in some capacity regardless. But if you can spare a couple of bucks because the material you find here is a welcome and entertaining part of your day, then it'd certainly be appreciated by yours truly.
Don't make me post pictures of the cute little baby I'm taking care of with a sign around her neck that reads "Will Write for Food."
