Body Slam

Man, Opie and Anthony make national headlines twice in a month. Never thought I'd see the day.

First it was the Sharon Osbourne-Susan Boyle row, now this: Yesterday morning on O&A's show on Sirius XM, Jim Norton got into a heated discussion with former wrestler and Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura that nearly turned into a fist fight. Ventura had been booked to promote his new TruTV reality show, Conspiracy Theory, but after almost two hours of contentious back-and-forth on everything from, yes, outlandish conspiracy theories, to military service, to war, to national and world politics, the shit finally hit the fan. It happened when Ventura made the claim that the 9/11 conspirators and all al-Qaeda terrorists should be treated the same way we treat American criminals and tried in a court of law; Norton, ahem, vehemently disagreed -- and that's when each of them started accusing the other of putting words in his mouth.

I was listening live and as it built to a crescendo, with Ventura finally standing up and walking out and Norton hurling obscenities at him as he left, my mouth was hanging open -- it was that tense and uncomfortable. Watching the actual video, though, which was posted on YouTube soon after, you realize that Ventura was about a half-second away from beating Norton to death.

See for yourself:

God I love O&A.
