Quote of the Day, Jr.

"The only positive benefit about being smeared by Mark Block on Hannity is I'm getting 100 new Twitter followers a minute."

-- Josh Kraushaar, formerly of Politico, whom the Herman Cain campaign mistakenly believed was the son of Cain accuser Karen Kraushaar

Believing that he had a bombshell on his hands, Cain campaign manager, cigarette smoker and hapless serial fuck-up Mark Block went on Hannity last night to claim that the Cain camp had "confirmed" that Karen Kraushaar's son worked at Politico, which is the outlet that broke the sexual harassment story. Karen Kraushaar is one of the women who's accusing Herman Cain of sexual harassment. Do you see where this is going?

Only two problems: Josh Kraushaar, the guy Block was apparently referring to a) doesn't work at Politico although he did some time ago, and b) isn't in any way related to Karen Kraushaar. They just happen to have the same last name and Cain's Keystone Kops Kampaign jumped to one hell of a conclusion without even thinking twice then touted it like they'd uncovered the Holy Grail. Yes, a guy with the name Kraushaar once worked at Politico; no, he's got nothing to do with the woman accusing Cain of sexual harassment. It's a coincidence.

Rachel Maddow is right: The entire Cain campaign is a performance art project. The Onion staff couldn't write a better joke candidate than Herman Cain.
