The most astonishing part of story isn't simply the dignity and grace exhibited by Whittington following an incident that almost killed him -- or that the author of the piece even bothered to revisit the incident in the first place; it's how badly the press screwed up five years ago, getting the story almost completely wrong and never really bothering to ask why.
