I actually posted this video once before quite awhile back, but thanks to Vevo a much better copy of it is now available -- plus, coming off of the Grammys absurdity I wanted to take a minute to remind everyone that when the Black Eyed Peas first started out, they were actually a pretty damn good hip-hop act. Of course that was B.F.: Before Fergie. Or more to the point, before the record company basically forced them to add Fergie to the mix.
While I don't doubt that the Peas are more than happy with their decision to become the #1 dumb-ass party-song rap act in history -- seeing as how they can now contemplate the artistic emptiness of their lives from their respective mansions in Bel Air -- there was a moment a couple of years ago when Will.I.am and Company's old school roots shined through brilliantly. It was on a song that, maybe not surprisingly, featured Q-Tip taking a lead role, along with Talib Kweli, John Legend and Cee-Lo. Fergie, by the way? Mercifully, barely a peep can be heard from her on this track.
Here's Like That.
