Listening Post

I like this song because it's got a very nice little 70s light rock vibe to it.

Here's new stuff from Shiny Toy Guns.

This is Fading Listening.

Listening Post

I like Shiny Toy Guns, I really do. I hung out with them in New York City a few years ago at a private loft show they did and they were very cool. But damn if this band can't make up its mind when it comes to lead singers.

First Carah Charnow was in, then she was out and was replaced by Sisely Treasure. Now Charnow's back in the band for the new record.

Here's the first single from it -- Waiting Alone.

Listening Post

I posted this when it was first released a little more than two years ago, but it remains one flat-out, bad-ass monster of a song and I really felt like hearing it this morning.

Crank it to 11 and have a happy Friday, kids -- it's Shiny Toy Guns' Ricochet!

Most of America knows this from the Lincoln commercial it's currently being used in.

Regardless, it's a good cover of what was always a really silly song.

Here's Shiny Toy Guns doing Peter Shilling's 1983 hit Major Tom.

Toy Story 3

Shiny Toy Guns doing Ghost Town, live at their private show last Tuesday here in New York City.

Not exactly the best quality video (I have no idea who shot it), but you get the idea.

Toy Story 2

Loft/gallery space on the 11th floor of a building in Tribeca, with a spectacular view of the city? Check.

Open bar? Check.

Cool DJ and album art all over the walls? Check.

All access passes, giving us the chance to have a lengthy and damn funny drunken conversation with Chad Petree (surprisingly, the least emo "emo guy" I've ever met)? Check.

Unbelievable show by Shiny Toy Guns? Check.

All in all a hell of a time.

NBC New York: Locals Only: Shiny Toy Guns

(Pictures shot with my crappy little Blackberry Pearl and then immediately uploaded to Facebook throughout the night. What did we do before this kind of technology?)

Toy Story

In keeping with today's not-so-toy gun theme, just a heads up that not only will I be going to tonight's secret Shiny Toy Guns show here in New York City, but I've somehow finagled all access passes -- meaning that myself and a good friend will be going backstage to meet the band, shoot pictures and video, that kind of thing.

Should have some fun stuff to report here tomorrow.

Listening Post

Yesterday I won a pair of tickets to see these guys in a secret show here in New York City. Basically, the WNBC website opens a contest once a day that asks you to identify the four sides of a particular fountain in a particular park downtown and what they mean -- in other words, it's kind of like the Da Vinci Code for East Village hipsters.

Regardless, I'm glad I'm going because this band's latest album is probably the best and most audacious 80s electro-pop throwback to come along since Jay Gordon and Orgy hung up their hair spray.

Here's the new single from Shiny Toy Guns -- Ghost Town.

Listening Post (Bonus Saturday Night Edition)

This song is flat-out bad-ass in every possible way.

Crank the volume to 11 -- it's new music from Shiny Toy Guns: Ricochet.
