Quote of the Day

"It's not the infidelity. It's the arrogance, hypocrisy, and -- most horrifying to women voters -- the cruelty. Anyone can dump one sick wife. Gingrich dumped two."

-- David Frum on the cynical absurdity of Newt Gingrich piously ringing the bell for "family values"

The Frum column, by the way, references a 2010 interview with Marianne Gingrich in Esquire in which she claims to have pressed her husband on his hypocrisy -- his ability to give a speech on compassion and values then, a couple of days later, tell his wife who had just been diagnosed with MS that he was leaving her for someone else. His response, according to the former Mrs. Gingrich?

"It doesn’t matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

My memory escapes me -- have we ever had a "President Douche" before?
