School Daze

Well folks, here it is: the Best Story Yet to come out of the Republican National Convention.

This is so completely laughable -- so utterly absurd -- that I honestly couldn't improve upon it comedically I tried.

Sure I poked fun at it a little earlier today, but what really was on that giant screen behind McCain during the first part of his speech last night? Well, what delegates saw that most TV viewers couldn't was an image of a lush green lawn leading to an ornate two-story building surrounded by trees and hedges.

What was this building?

It was Walter Reed Junior High School in North Hollywood, California.

And what does that have to do with John McCain?

Nothing, as far as anyone can tell.

A theory being tossed around?

That the McCain camp Google Image searched "Walter Reed," or something to that effect -- looking for pictures of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center -- and went with the most impressive and striking photo they found for the giant wall, without bothering to take a closer look at just what building was actually shown in the picture.

Think this sounds preposterous?

Just too ridiculous to be true?

I'd love to hear another explanation.
