Funny Pages

I love everything about this -- particularly Jason Segel photographed as Buster Keaton (thereby combining the man behind my favorite movie of last year, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and my favorite comedic actor of all time).

Quote of the Week (Continued)

"My intent was not to go after Rush. I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh. I was maybe a little bit inarticulate... There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership."

-- Supposed actual head of the Republican Party Michael Steele, apologizing for referring to Rush Limbaugh as a mere "entertainer" whose rhetoric is "ugly and incendiary," and apparently forgetting the incredibly derogatory term for an African-American who subserviently cowers before a fat, white, powerful racist asshole

(Seriously, at the risk of offending quite a few people, the man may as well bug his eyes out and start carrying a shoe-shine box after this.)

This is the best song you've never heard.

From Toploader's 2000 album Onka's Big Moka (with a video that's reminiscient of Radiohead's Just), here's Achilles Heel.

Quote of the Week (And It's Only Monday)

"We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. Liberty, Freedom. And the pursuit of happiness."

Pharmaceutical opiate enthusiast, sex tourist, and de facto leader of the Republican Party Rush Limbaugh, addressing CPAC and apparently unaware that it's the Declaration of Independence which promises "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," and not the Constitution

For That, Let's Go Live to Our Reporter in Sunny Miami...

Just a heads-up from Malcontent Central: I managed to escape the Great Snowstorm of '09 just in time. I'm now in Miami, where I'll be for the next week or so.

Down here on a combination of business and pleasure. Got the little one with me visiting her grandparents (we're both missing Mom).

I'll be updating this site regularly; I'll just be doing it from a remote location. The only difference you might notice will be that you can actually feel me sitting outdoors in the sun, sipping a mojito as I type.

Indeed -- the life.

One of my favorite things about Duncan Sheik -- in addition to the way I felt the first time I heard his debut album back in the mid-90s -- is that his taste in music happens to match my own in many ways.

Case in point: When he did this cover at the House of Blues in Los Angeles years ago, my jaw just about dropped -- because I love this song so, so much.

Here's Duncan Sheik doing Radiohead's Fake Plastic Trees.
