Listening Post

Well, get ready to party like it's 1984 -- and make of this entire effort what you will. There's something reassuring about Duran Duran -- who've admittedly aged very well, certainly without looking too desperate or cartoonish -- returning basically to their heyday by casting a bunch of 80s supermodel glamazons for the ten-minute, Jonas Ã…kerlund-helmed video for their new single, Girl Panic!

The first few things you notice about the clip are, a) they somehow got Naomi Campbell to sit in one place for a total of four minutes without throwing a phone at someone, b) you can totally see Eva Herzigova actually writing the crap lyrics Nick Rhodes churns out, and c) damn it must be fun being Duran Duran.

Here's Girl Panic!

Listening Post: Bonus Edition

This is worth five minutes of your time today: Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance joining Duran Duran on stage last night in L.A. as part of a concert directed by David Lynch.

This is Planet Earth.

Listening Post

While my laptop is still, in technical terms, "fucked" I'll try to pop up little tidbits here and there. Sorry about all the issues (the computer's as opposed to mine, which you should be used to by now).

Anyway, here's the new one from Duran Duran -- incidentally their best single in around two decades.

This is the Mark Ronson-produced All You Need Is Now.

Listening Post

I'm gonna be scarce for the next few days -- I mean, even scarcer than I've been recently -- because I've got a hell of a lot on my plate right now, not the least important of which is flying up to New York City this weekend to pick up my little girl.

I promise to return wonderfully revitalized. I hope.

For now, here's one of my favorites from Duran Duran.

This is Lonely in Your Nightmare.
