Quote of the Day

“We thought of it, sort of, the week before. And then the day came and we’re just, like, so nervous. We’re like, ‘No no no there’s no way,’ you know? And it was, like, ‘We’re not really gonna wear these dresses.’ We had tuxes as a backup because we thought we were gonna chicken out. And we did. And we were like, ‘Let’s not do that. Let’s not do that.’ But then we were like, ‘Let’s take a little bit of the acid and see what happens.’ So we did that and of course like an hour later we were like, ‘We gotta wear the dresses!’”

-- Trey Parker, admitting that he and South Park co-creator Matt Stone were on acid when they showed up at the 2000 Academy Awards in drag

Yup. Acid. It makes every idea a good idea.

Well, look at it this way: the Academy was probably on acid that year when they gave the Best Actress Oscar to Julia Roberts for Erin Brockovich.

The Good Book

If you've been lucky enough to see The Book of Mormon on Broadway, you'll be doing the Snoopy dance over this.

MSNBC: The Book of Mormon Leads Tony Nominations/5.3.11

To call it brilliant would be an insult to the word brilliant. How many musicals feature a song whose title translates into "Fuck You, God" as well as a running gag that involves a guy singing about how he has maggots in his scrotum?

Quote of the Day

"We're not on anybody's fucking side."

-- South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone

Kick-ass chick Alex Leo's interview with the two of them in HuffPo is great stuff.
