Quote of the Day

"The threshold question, not usually asked, but it’s in everyone’s mind in a presidential election. ‘Should we give this person nuclear weapons?’ And the answer (in Sarah Palin's case) answers itself."

-- George Will

In case you need a quick primer on the long list of important stories the mainstream political press is currently chasing down and concentrating all of its considerable resources on, here it is:

1. A dick pic on Anthony Weiner's Twitter account

2. Sarah Palin riding around in a bus

God bless America.

The latest entry into the competition for the Best Thing Ever on the Internet is this: a Yelp page for the Planned Parenthood "Abortionplex," which, if you haven't been paying attention, was the subject of a story in the Onion that completely fooled the hell out of -- and drew plenty of amusing outrage from -- a lot of very dumb religious conservatives.

A lot less profane than my take on it, but dead-on nonetheless.

Thank You

Just wanted to take a second out to say thanks to everybody who read, wrote, commented and spread the word on Facebook and Twitter during our big DXM Fifth Birthday Jubilee. Not only was the month of May the most prolific around here in more than a year -- with more posts than any other single month since March of 2010 -- but the readership was tremendous across the board.

So, yeah -- I'm really humbled.

Give yourselves a cookie or something.

Headline of the Week

It isn't the actual headline of this story but the link on the HuffPo main page that takes you to the story: "Obama's Huge Weapon."

Although remember what I said last week about how the current Republican political model is unsustainable given the changing make-up of the United States? Well, here you go.

This is one of those cool-as-hell songs from the 80s that almost nobody remembers -- and yet it's one of my favorites from that era.
